ROBERT TIDERINGTON OBITUARY

Tiderington, Robert Henry III 4/19/1947 - 4/8/2023 Good Harbor Bay Robert "Bob" was born in Saginaw, Michigan, where he resided until retirement when he moved his residence to the Leelanau Peninsula. He left his earthly life at the age of 75 surrounded by his wife and family. Bob was a loving husband, father, and papa. He was an athlete, brilliant businessman, and a voracious reader. Bob had a love for the game of golf, with memorable rounds in France, Aruba, the Ocean on Kiawah Island, and his annual round at Arcadia Bluffs. The majority of his games were played at the Saginaw Country Club where he followed in his father's steps as a long-time member. People who played with him saw he always had the first tee time of the day. He was not a follower. Anyone who played with him probably were subject to his, "Pick it up. I've seen enough," remark. Bob graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School in Saginaw, where he was called back years later as the 1986 "Honorary Alumnus" for his high school. He continued his education at Albion College and obtained his J.D. from Wayne State University. He started his career as an attorney at Cook, Nash & Deibel and went on to become the President and CEO of Fischer-Flack, Inc., a company founded by his father. Throughout his life, Bob served on numerous boards, volunteered in the community and held membership with several professional organizations including the Michigan Bar Association, U.S. Supreme Court and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the National Association of Electrical Distributors, and Saginaw Valley Manufacturers Association. He served on the Board of Directors for the Westlund Child Guidance Clinic, United Way of Saginaw, Michigan National Bank, St. Lukes Covenant Hospital, and Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce. He served as Chairperson for the Saginaw City Planning Commission, Voluntary Action Center, and Suttons Bay Planning Commission, among a few of his roles. Bob was a long-time member and sat on the Board of Directors for the Saginaw YMCA for 25 years. He felt lucky to spend his winters watching sunsets at his residence on Eagle Beach, Aruba and the other months watching that same sun setting at his Lake Michigan home. Cherishing Bob's memories are his wife, Sherry Brandel, daughter Jennifer (Scott) Reizen, sons Robert Elliott (Michelle), Ryan, and Justin, stepdaughter Amanda (Matthew) Molski, stepson Mark Brandel, 11 grandchildren, brothers-in-law Bob (Lou) Kazmierski, Randy (Ann) Kazmierski, sister-in-law Cindy (Al) Hermsen, and brother Tom (Jan). Bob was preceded in death by his parents Robert Henry II and Charlotte (Hughes) Tiderington and brother Jim. A private memorial will be held at a later date. For those wishing to donate, memorial contributions may be made in Bob's name to the Leland Library in Leland, Michigan. O Captain! My Captain! our fearful trip is done.
